Hyper-bubbly "dance captains" on elevated platforms bellow instructions: "Row the boat. And back. Double time. Reach up. And forward. Dust yourself. Dust yourself." For many of our number, the decision to audition to dance at the Olympics opening ceremony was a consequence of those coveted preliminary round Taekwondo tickets just not coming through. But others evidently see it as their ticket to the big time. One barked instruction divides us: "Freestyle!"
3 months agoBeing a huge fan of Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later , I had no real expectations for the Juan Carlos Fresnadillo-directed sequel, 28 Weeks Later . As the project moved through development I saw it simply as a hollow cash grab made even more worthless by the fact that the original director wasn't back on board. Then I saw the film and I realized that Fresnadillo is a name to look out for.

No one, least of all Boyle, should underestimate the importance of the opening ceremony. It will trigger the connection of a global audience with the London games. The dancing, and the visuals and sounds are what people will take to bed with them that first night.
